About me
My name is Alexander Turnbough, but you can call me Xander!
Creativity has been a part of me for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I was surrounded by inspiration—my father, a musician, and my mother, a scrapbook artist, both nurtured my curiosity and imagination. As a child, I gravitated toward activities that allowed me to create, whether it was drawing, painting, or playing with toys that encouraged imaginative exploration. These early experiences shaped the foundation of my lifelong passion for design.
Before discovering design, I first explored photography, receiving my first professional camera at 16. It quickly became a passion, leading me to start a small photography business and delve into digital creation through tools like Photoshop and Illustrator. My love for visual storytelling guided me toward graphic design, which I pursued in college, taking on diverse projects and roles.
At 21, my path became clear when I joined Snap Academies, where I discovered the intersection of design and human psychology, sparking my transition to UX/UI design. In 2022, I joined Santa Monica College’s IXD program, earning my bachelor's degree in Interaction Design in 2024. Since then, I’ve been dedicated to crafting meaningful user experiences.
I am currently engaged in contract UX/UI design work, collaborating with small startups and private businesses to deliver tailored design solutions and impactful user experiences. I have thrived in many tech-oriented fields such as artificial intelligence, educational platforms, and gaming.
With my experience, I have developed strong proficiency in remote work, tackling complex projects, and meeting strict deadlines. Throughout my journey, I have honed my ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including product managers and developers. By leveraging my diverse experience and interpersonal skills, I strive to foster a positive and productive team environment that drives exceptional outcomes.
